In my Branding and Identity class, we were tasked with creating a business we would potentially be interest in to create a logo design. The first step was to create a design brief which included details like the name of our business, an acronym the business may go by, the history, mission, vision, services, and target audience. It also included guidelines on what design specifications the client would like including colors, fonts, and designs they like or designs they want to avoid. Once we had created the design brief, we switched with another classmate so that we would be designing for a client other than ourselves and create a more authentic logo design process. Step two was to start collecting design inspiration and sketch potential logo designs to present to our client. After a few rounds of sketches and critiques from the client, we narrowed down to a final design that would be refined and perfected. Once this was done, we developed logo design templates and style guides to ensure that the logo we designed would be used appropriately with specific fonts, color, and application uses. The final step was to create an animation of our logo designs that could be used in commercials and other motion based advertisements.
